We have run out of the land needed for life. Food production, energy generation, workplaces, meeting points for cultural development, educational spaces, data accumulation all need land and we do not have it, or at least we do not have it in collective ownership. And so it's impossible to build sovereign futures. We have left futures in the hands of private property.

The loss of land for life does not occur without conflicts, and in daily life we see dispute to exploit for the benefit of capital spaces that should be common, leaving in the background the current or future needs for life. It also happens that, among the needs of life, it is about overcoming some needs in front of others, without accepting that life itself is a network of interdependencies. The tensions that we see on the skin are those that are taking place right now in Erdizen, Arbona, the old town of San Sebastian, Piaspe or in many towns, neighborhoods and areas of Euskal Herria and the world. Most of the tensions are due to the importance that the ground still has for capital accumulation, but we will see more and more those that occur as a result of the gradation between the different needs of the citizens. This is a field of universal conflict.

Our Andalusian colleague Oscar García Jurado, master of economics, always reminds us that the land does not lose value, that is why it is the basis of the power of the lords here and there, and that it is essential that the land be for the one who works and lives there. Along the way we have to work two lines. On the one hand, we need a citizen planning of land use to sort out current and future use based on citizenship rather than capital needs. On the other hand, we must strengthen and expand projects for the recovery of soils and habitable spaces, with close examples: Lurzaindia, Etxalde, La Borda, Marinaleda, Biziola and those who believe.

How can we reverse the situation at a time when the privatization of material toilets has taken place almost and the privatisation of immaterial toilets? The road must be public-community, elaborated by the citizens, creating projects and structures of collective property in our territories with the institutional and cooperative instruments at our disposal, buying, recovering and collectivizing the soil. For example, we can add our savings in Koop57 to recover, from a young age, land for life and futures.
