In September of this year we greeted from the Gaztetxe de Portugalete “Sastraka”, a place really occupied and full of dreams and desire. After an illusionary prose of eight months came the fruits. On the left side of the Ibaizabal we gathered 500 people and had the opportunity to participate in tertulias, excursions, debates, exhibitions, songs or bertsos. Throughout the weekend meals were prepared and it was possible to sleep thanks to the collective gente.La trajectory of the Basque ecologists started

Act, mesh, build. The intention of the ecologists meeting at the beginning of the early meetings in Eibar was clear. ALDAKETA, which was organised in the winters of 2020 and 2021, particularly in Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, marked an exemplary path in the joint initiatives of ecologists and in mutual knowledge. Now we had to make a bigger leap by extending it to the whole of the South, and we started organising ECOMEETINGS.
In this process, the organization has wanted to pay special attention to the Portugalete event for all groups, campaigns and environmental initiatives to be invited, and in the three-day program a special effort was made to gather different voices and faces, in order to promote mutual knowledge and networks.
Some believe that Basque environmentalism is widespread, atomized in many corners, in small groups, and that it would need a unified muscle to respond strongly to the eco-social crisis. Others, on the other hand, in those local responses, see the strength of diversity and responsiveness to attacks. Yes, we all see the need to unite and coordinate. Moreover, the joint mobilization and tightening of the networks would allow the implementation of a new agent as a result of the process initiated.
Seeds. At the morning assembly on Sunday 2 October we met more than a hundred people and thanks to proper dynamization, individually (on paper), in small and medium-sized groups or in a very broad circle, we were able to exchange our views between people of different ages, sexes and countries. When we were in a circle, we were given each one a handful of seeds and we took care of them in circles with water and sun. The new phase of Basque environmentalism is coming.
