A branch in the air
Where we write and where we read, or what we write and what we write. His way of understanding poetry, writing or speech in general has something to do with last May in the book of poems Cold-bazkatzen (Balea Zuria, 2022), published by Izaskun Igoa Jaime (Ziga, 1995). Despite previous work in the world of literature, this is the first collection of poems edited by Zigakoa, Donostia Kultura V. Poetry Prize.
Each poem answers one of the ten questions that underpin the book, rather than a blunt answer, as a generator of new questions: our tendencies, concerns and relationships, because our ways of living and being in society don't always respond to mathematical laws. Poems are the opportunity to sit and stop: from restlessness, to learn to be; from inside to outside, or vice versa. “The widest winds / also the fluffy branch / moves between the limits of the tree. / In the air, break.” We have in these lines a nativity that breaks, that adheres to pain, chaos and thought, but that addresses complex questions with the lost complexity and emphasizes their integrity.
Wind is air moving, shortness of breath causes excess air, penetrating breathing and breath ejection. But, as the Igoa shows, air can be much more representative: it becomes ferocious, hurry or instability. There are also elements that we can find in the body, in time and in nature so that the poetic self frequently addresses itself and invites the reader to adopt a reflexive attitude. Thus, among other things, it rigorously dissects the supposed freedom that modern life offers us and the love that is considered disconnected, using clear and penetrating language.

The collection consists of the acknowledgments made to several writers read by Igoa, which allow the reader to construct their own meanings in this interview.
