Greatness appears in small things. It doesn't matter how many stages an artist does, how many sold out and how many awards. All that matters is what you are able to influence with music.
FASHION: 26, 27 and 28 August.
WHERE:Pampliega,
Poza de la Sal and Covarrubias
I recognize, I have never been paid attention by the Burgese group The Wonderful Alcohol Orchestra. Seven kids on stage with White T-shirts without Flag manga, starting with Mumford And Sons. That's what I saw from afar. However, last year, because the Biscayan producer Arriguri had to make video clips of the new album, I had the opportunity to get to know it more closely. And I'm glad about that.
New Burgese Chancellor is the name of the work. This is a short but fine work done from the traditional songs of Burgos. In the pop mold until then, but subtle and raw. Because the people of LA MODA are very Burgese, and because we have to work with the people, at the end of August they organized a three-day tour through the Castilian municipalities that are emptying. With the excuse of making a documentary, we spent three days with them.
Pampliega, Poza de la Sal and Covarrubias. Every 300 inhabitants. More in summer, less in winter. This tour has been “because small peoples have the right to culture”, offering free concerts. 3,000 people didn't meet at the Pampliega concert!
In the morning we talked to the people's neighbors. The first woman, a friendly 80-year-old woman, “who will be born in Pampliega and die in Pampliega,” but who has spent her whole life in Legazpi. It's not casual, 90 percent of the people we've met live, have lived or have a close relative in the Basque Country.
And they've been explaining the characters. Pedro, a councillor of super-emotional and thankful culture; the poteadores Paco and Mariangeles, along with visits and tastings to the winery caves of Pampliega; the bottle David and the bloodthirsty Alberto, heirs to the works of their grandparents; Don Evaristo and Honorata Doña, 92 and 93 years old, recalling the harsh evolution of the people. Because the working peoples of Castilla Comunera are full of their own names.
I've never seen it. People queuing to find the best place in the concert and queuing, almost three hours!, to greet the group members. And the team for three hours (!) Greet, sign, farewell and signature. Asking where they draw their patience: “Fuck, these people have come to see us, how are we not going to fire!”
They look like the Beatles of Burgos, but the team remains humbly. Make decisions together, respect and care for the environment. And offering songs to the people. Campos Amarillos was the song that most surprised and excited me. See how many people have cried in singing to the dignified and annoying soils of Castile: “Honest fields gehiago/ They are the ones who are / Let the Castilian fields / Arden easy in summer”.
We bring home a suitcase full of names and the community and pride that is generated by the songs. Forgotten and annoyed, but because small peoples still have dignity.
