Adventures in Moscow
If I am not mistaken, this is the first book by Haritz Larrageta, published in Basque and Spanish, aimed at children.
The writer addresses the reader from the beginning, with the question “Do you know Anna Kope?”, and so he immediately begins to tell the story of the Jokin and Uxue brothers. Her mother is a journalist who must cover the world cup from Moscow. The three will therefore travel to the Russian capital for several weeks.
In the book, in a simple style and with much information to the reader by the omniscient narrator, the adventure of two young people is narrated: the hotel environment, its difficulties with language, how they go out of the hotel alone, the deception with a strange woman and the whirlwind of adventure of a day. The story of two strange Russian dolls Matrioka and their ability to stay time by joining together, join a group of women who defend the separation and preservation of dolls against those who seek to conquer marriages and seize power, to pass dangers, adventures, difficult and pleasurable moments in days they will never forget.
We have said that it is an easy to read book, that the reader wants to start and continue reading, but it is also true that there are difficult facts to believe in a situation that intends to be realistic. The story has a very simple tone and presents some literary writing gaps. For example, it seems that the narrators are Jokin and Uxue, in a blog they created themselves, as suggested at the end, but the narrator is another, an omniscient.
In this sense, although we can say that we are dealing with a book that can be read to taste, we have to acknowledge that we have to work more literally, and I say this because in the edition of the book – by illustrations, in colors and very expressive, by the hand of Marco Maëla and making a hard cover edition – a great bet has been made, and it seems that it is the first edition of a collection that collects the stories of the mysterious Anna Kopek.
