We're different on vacation. When we dive into different spaces and times, where we travel differently. Besides being a period that adapts to more organic rhythms of the body, being in a different spatial context provides differences to our body. It means that changing the place of space influences our sensations. With the possibility of another physical horizon, the eyes “respect” when they look deeply and in the long term, it is possible to put the measure of oneself in contact with the environment, simultaneously receiving the smallness of oneself and the greatness with the environment. In a holiday house with a different orientation, the stay offers a new relationship with the sun, dedicating time to visualize the sunrise or sunset, to configure the Meridiana position and parallel to the planet. Perhaps it is more relaxed in view of the need for privacy of the house or the need for space that we consider essential is blurred. We will be surrounded by other sounds, we will have closer natural elements or the possibility of spending more time in less artificial areas will allow us to be more attached to nature. And another climatology will caress us – we will remember 2022 in which corners we have been guarded – thermal surveillance will take its time, seeking shade, refuge or water offering a reading of the place.
It can be said that what we generate during rest days regarding the context is in relation to the construction of an affective bond. That is why some idealizations regarding the place of travel are awakened; “here I would come to live” or “I would have peace to write a book in this place” or “this is a good place for retirement”. In general, displacement opens the door to another possible spatial attention, and we are usually in a more open or more available situation to be in connection with what surrounds us.
