Like every year, the San Sebastian Musical Quincena is a must for music lovers. And as in previous years, the offer is varied, nice and full of incentives. It is the 83rd fortnight, and although it may be a shorter festival than usual, it will offer highly recommended dates.

I will try to review the content of some of the festival cycles, and I think I will give some recommendations about concerts that classical music fans should not miss.

As always, the biggest concerts will take place in the Kursaal Auditorium. On this occasion we cannot miss the opening of the festival with Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists under the direction of Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Spiritual and intimidating recital with Carissimi, Scarlatti and Schützen. We expect the highest quality of this team that never fails.

But in addition to the opening concert, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra or proposals such as Pablo Sorozábal's 'The Tabernacle of the Port' or Donizetti's 'La fille du Régiment' are also interesting quotes in this August cycle.

However, let us not underestimate other cycles that are as interesting or more interesting as the Kursaal Cycle. For example, at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre we will be able to enjoy the piano of the Icelandic pianist Vikingurumena Ólaffson. In another cycle we want, the Cycle of Young Interpreters, we will be able to listen to new talents, such as the accordionist Marta Cubas, the pianist Javier Manía or the harp Nerea Azkona, all related to the Musikene Music Center.

I have to mention the cycle Excusa de Música, a cycle that aims to bring the music of the festival in different and suggestive scenarios, with excellent proposals. On August 4 the Quincena Musical will take place in Getaria with the Coral Landarbaso. In addition, he will be in the Monastery of Leire with the txistu of Jagoba Astiazaran, the piano of Iñar Sastre and the voice of Eñaut Elorrieta on day 13. Chillida Leku will be another of the most beautiful settings in the Quincena, which will host the Gerhard quartet on August 19 and 21. In Álava there will also be interesting concerts, such as the one offered by the accordionist Iñaki Alberdi in Treviño on the 15th or the one of Quartetto Adorno in Zalduondo on the 26th.

As we see, there is where to choose. We enjoy music this summer.
