In summer, and more in this summer postpandemic, classical music festivals and others multiply. Of course, we cannot miss important quotes such as the Quincena Musical in its 83 edition, but we have to reclaim less well-known, very interesting cycles that keep real jewelry.

One of these musical treasures is the Schubertiada de Valdegovía (Álava), which offers concerts every Saturday in July. This cycle focuses, as its name suggests, on the music of Schubert, although it also presents works by the closest author, depending on his artistic attitude with the Austrian musician. It also wants to promote poetic song and chamber music. And always wager on young talent as a connoisseur and transmitter of this heritage.

This cycle has its origin in the Barcelona society Franz Schubert, founded in 1997. Initially, the association promoted concerts in Catalonia, but from 2018 Gaubea joined this initiative. with great success. In fact, in previous editions many people have approached the concerts.

This year we have a luxury programme: on 2 July, at the Bachicabo Church, the Hanson quartet created at the Paris Conservatory in 2013 has offered the string quartets of Beethoven and Schumann.

On July 9, mezzosoprano Carmen Armur, who recently played a prominent role in the Madama Butterfly opera, organised by the ABAO, with the collaboration of pianist Hilko Dumno, will offer the Lieder de Schubert, Mahler, Händel and Mozart, this time in the Church of Tuesta.

On 16 July, soprano Erika Baikoff together with pianist Kunal L2-3 will offer a recital of songs by Schubert, Korngold, Marx, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov. Sei kantuak Op. 38 works, which stand out in the universal vocal repertoire due to their complexity and beauty.

The festival will end on July 23 with the performance of the brothers Abel and Arnau Tomàs in the Church of Bachicabo, with a Bach works program. It will be a good end to this quote with classical music that we should not lose.
