This year’s largest architecture prize, the Pritzker Prize, was for Francis Kèrèrère. I recognize that Kèrè is the only black architect I know and that I cannot name an Indian or Peruvian architect, as I am capable in literature. The education I have received and the editorial network I inspect is Eurocentrist, with the exception of Japan. The prize points to the frame of a different era.
Kéré's life can be taken to film. Born in Burkina Faso, in a small community without electricity or clean water, he saw his schoolmates die. The community raised funds to become an architect to pursue his studies in Berlin. They say that the future of African communities living in poverty lies in the formation of their children who send them to study abroad, convinced that they will improve their quality of life through knowledge. Ké's account has been confused with the images of Melilla and I have been disturbed.
Kéré is an African architect with privileges, but a son who returns to his hometown, with the intention of returning to his village the opportunity offered by the community. It will return to the community because it will successfully enable it to build more buildings for the community, offering social value to success. The images of his work show African builders, women and men working with their hands. They have known the capacity of community workers and have demonstrated traditional and renewed techniques to make a school, building classrooms for comfort with high temperatures. Ké's work is unrepeatable, as it has been carried out with the knowledge of the locals and the training of hands, and the quality of the hand finishes in Europe is unreachable, because the wheel of capital has ended with craftsmanship. Kèrère plays the role of community builder, since he is in charge of teaching the profession to someone local, so that after his death architecture continues to improve the quality of life of the community. Beautiful lessons from Africa.

Surely, most of us have already bought, here and there, the gifts for Christmas. Because the night visit to Olentzero is a great quote, especially for the youngest. Everyone is preparing for this fruitful era of the year: Bilbao burns as much as Vitoria, Pamplona and Baiona,... [+]
What surprised you the most when you left jail? I've been asked many times in the last year and a half.
See that the streets of Bilbao are full of tourists and dogs with two legs, for example? Or the changes in the political situation? The first one has tired me and annoyed me... [+]
The issue of aid for Basque learning is really confusing. The citizen who wants to learn Basque must go to more than one window to know how much the course he wants to take and where, how and when he will get the grants. Because it still costs money to study, nothing is free... [+]
The understanding and interpretation of the mathematical language is what is important in the learning process, at least it is what we say to our students. The language of mathematics is universal, and in general, the margin of error for interpretation tends to be small. We... [+]
In the meetings we get together of everything, and the meetings characterize us at the moment when everyone has their role, their power (or their lack), their age, their vital moment. But there are always those who calm down. Lete was singing to us that when we were older, we... [+]
Perhaps one of the weaknesses of human beings is the tendency we have to listen to and care for the majority. It has certainly been an important feature of the development of our species and necessary for survival. But with digitalization, that characteristic that we have makes... [+]

I'd like to write to this thing that I'm inside. Almost five years have passed since the pandemic, and those of us who were young at the time, although we are still young, have begun to orbit in other spaces. Housing, the project of life, maternity, work, health... the agendas of... [+]
Remember? 90% of Parliament adopted the Education Agreement two centuries ago – forgive me, two years ago. The reaction of the leftist congressmen moved between euphoria and moderate satisfaction. According to the approved document, private institutions would continue to... [+]
Being is doing. This is what the Durango Fair says this year, and it is true, at least in the case of the fair itself and taking into account Euskal Herria. This edition is already the 59th edition of the Azoka, and the fact that each year is celebrated shows that the Durango... [+]
In Bilbao, I worked for five years with groups at risk of exclusion around the digital divide, especially with women. Along the way, I came across machistan violence and many other problems. In a very organic way, I began to relate to myself and to understand the work of the... [+]
I couldn't close the drawer after the last pair of stockings that I had left, which devoured each other. So it was, badly closed, already for two weeks, the pajamas (in the spin of the pajamas, except three giveaways, there is no pajamas; the t-shirt “for home” is full of... [+]
