Lately, many documents have passed through my hands about the digital transformation of the third sector. Some of these documents are driven by non-tertiary technology entities. But I recently participated in two simple meetings on digital transformation developed by different actors in the third sector, in which the third sector did have a voice. I could hear a critical and proactive voice.
I have just arrived in this sector and I have a lot to learn, but I have soon realised that the position of many players in this sector in digitalisation is that of a mere user. In technology, in general, they follow the path of adaptation to change, rather than shaping technological change. In short, they have too many day-to-day responsibilities to channel the force and resources to think about their tools. In these encounters, however, I noticed the difference that many of the tools they use lack a human gaze. What is human gaze? How can we interpret this?
I believe that digital transformation will have a human look if it does not generate new forms of exclusion and makes resources ecology. To this end, it is necessary to pay particular attention to the business models that promote these technological developments, to the nature and peoples in which technological infrastructures are harmful or beneficial, to the sustainability of the devices and to the possibilities of repair and improvement thereof, to the extent that this technology is a wealth for the community and, finally, to the best, if diversity in the design and realization of technology is taken into account.
In these meetings I have perceived a paradigm shift; I have seen the sector take a voice, the way has been detected to shape the digital transformation. The impact of technology on society is such that how will the third sector not have a voice in technology and digital transformation?
