ARGIA magazine has recalled the radio program Bedi Irratia Euskalduntxarrak in the context of Korrika. To a group of Vitorian students, recognizing that they do not dominate the Basque Country and laughing at the mistakes, has served to release the language in front of the AEK microphone.
This project has reminded me of several people in Bilbao: Those who, even possessing the title C1, do not dare to speak in Basque at a round table or in a medium of communication; or those who have studied in model B, even if they understand everything, do not say a single phrase in Basque on a daily basis. All these friends are women*, I think that in the Judaeo-Christian patriarchy the three emotions especially condition our subjectivity:
Shame.
The Plazandreok received a double sanction when we make a public error, as highlighted by the gender correspondent of the newspaper Isabel Valdés El País in a conference of the University of the Basque Country. Although he is not mistaken, we know that our activity (and the body) will be judged stronger than that of men. Valdés talked about the low participation of women in the media; about the difficulty of finding experts or Tertullians. It is no coincidence that he passed on to the story “relaxing cup of coffee with milk” by Ana Botella, and not the poor English of any male politician.
"What is the relationship between empowerment and the results of speech tests? Who takes the floor in conversation classes?"
Blame.
It strikes me that those friends I remember have less complexity in getting rid of English. What about Euskera? I think guilt has to do with it. The Basque language is the language of our people, which makes us Basques, which we should master. Throwing the wood does not help.
Self-demands.
Researchers Aizpea Otaegi and Jaime Altuna have explained that most Euskaltegis students are women and, at the same time, manifest a more negative self-perception than men when asked about their relationship with the Basque Country. Among the mechanisms of patriarchal oppression that Uxue Alberdi designated in his book "From the Throat to the Throat" also highlights the "destructive self-demands" felt by the bertsolaris.
I have read in an academic article by Gatx Eizaguirre Aoiz the following reflection: “The analysis of physical sensations and emotions can be interesting for the conjugation of language between anthropology and feminist anthropology, for example, shame. Which people or groups who speak Basque in the Basque context feel ashamed when speaking in Spanish? Which subjects who are learning Euskera feel shame? What person does not know Euskera feel for not knowing Euskera? How is that shame in the body and what consequences does it have? Is it associated with silence? Are you doing agency exercises with that shame? How do these shame relate to gender, class, race inequalities…?”
My Catalan multilingual hat suspends all Euskaltegi talk tests. What is the relationship between empowerment and the results of speech tests? Who takes the floor in conversation classes? Some of my acquaintances have acknowledged me that she doesn't approach BIRA's feminist Berbalagun because she's embarrassed, because she thinks she doesn't have enough level. What can be done to take account of all this in the processes of Euskaldunisation?
I have no answer, but the philosophy of Euskaldunes has seemed wonderful to work these emotions through humor. And also the Txio of the rapper La Furia: from now on he will speak Basque, although he is wrong, “and if you do not like, you will be able to eat all the pussy”.

Today, the voices of women and children remain within a culture that delegitimizes their voices, silencing their experiences, within a system aimed at minimizing or ignoring their basic rights and needs. A media example of this problem is the case of Juana Rivas, but her story... [+]

The New Year’s Morning is the title of a roundness created by Joxe Ansorena, brother of our grandfather Isidro, for the Txistularis to hit the streets during the New Year’s Morning. In the air of that melody, we were picking up the wrecks of the night, like the garbage... [+]
