On the occasion of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we are constantly being told that the invaders are going to gain experience and that, for the next time, they will think twice before taking such repressive measures. Russia is punished by EE.UU. However, because the Westerners are convinced that the Russian economy will not be able to overcome this situationn.Para recognize the truth,
embargo policies have influenced its implementation in countries such as Africa or Asia, such as South Africa, Zimbabwe, Iraq or Iran, but the poorest of these countries have suffered the consequences of the degradation of their vital resources. It must be remembered that the UN embargoes on Iraq led to the deaths of 500 000 children, who are the most vulnerable. However, when the recently deceased Madeleine Albright, Bill Clinton's foreign secretary, was asked how she valued the painful embargo measures imposed on Iraq, she replied that the Iraqis had suffered a harsh situation but that what they had done there was worthwhile.

When it comes to punishing poor countries, the UN Security Council has no difficulty in adopting embargo measures. However, when one of the members of that Council or its close friend exercises the right of veto in the Council and measures are carried out outside UN law. States can then apply these measures individually, as has happened now. Therefore, to EE.UU., blindly, the European Union has followed them, despite their effect on bumera, due to its huge dependence on the commodities we bring from Russia (oil, gas, wheat, ...). The main losers of this war are the Ukrainians, as the bodies are being laid by themselves, but we Europeans also have to suffer serious consequences because we have already reached four million people, not counting their husbands and children. Because all of them, for the time being, need housing, schools, health services, etc., and they are going to take charge of those public expenses.

In Amartea, the day of war is about $600 million sent to Ukraine and with the other hand we donate $800 million to Russia for gas, oil and other imports. We Europeans are therefore doing a good business! On the other hand, it is clear that
NATO has also been promoting and caressing this war for years, always following the United States’ peripetees, because NATO ultimately seeks to rearm the Western states, and Trump urged EU members to be more generous in military spending to get closer to 2% of GDP.

Trump’s idea now appears when we are engaged in the war in Ukraine. Every EU member is prepared to make a leap in military spending to 2% of GDP. Germany will spend EUR 100 billion on rearmament!

This indicates that the military industry, both in the US and in the EU, is planning a major business. On the other hand, China will not lose either; oil, gas, etc., which Russia will not sell in the EU, will come very well to compensate for sectors with significant deficits. And the losers will be humble citizens, because we will have less public money left to invest in public services, because it looks like it’s “forbidden” to raise taxes, and it doesn’t seem like tax havens that keep their profits running away from taxes.
