We have already heard the words of Leire Vargas (Durango, 2002), especially social networks and as a translator of stories Bicycles, muscles, cigarettes and Sally Rooney's Sally Rooney, by Raymond Carver. He won the prestigious Kutxa Literary Prize of the City of Irun in 2021 with his poem All Ametsa is the Imagination and was published in December by the editorial Elkar.
Holes, Doors and Bridges, the poems of the book are divided into three parts, all of them seem simple and white, but, as in poems, sobriety and depth are evident. The strawberry of the superficial illustration made by Udane Ansa is the heart that holds a hand, and the title can also imply that things are not as simple as they seem, in one sense or another, whether it is acceptance or credibility, that everything is an illusion.
They are unartificially low poems, but not for that simple reason; the book follows the logic of the concrete word and the idea that sometimes surprises. It is a pity that we sometimes find ourselves with some bad mucus or others.
The atmosphere of the book is ethereal, there are hardly any proper names, only those of the authors of the citations are saved, but the concerns that appear are concrete: “Do we have hope in the compass, / and that it would be without maza / quarry? / Somewhere, besides desire / hope, hope, belief... / How if not / go ahead? // But, starting to search and explore, / I found perhaps, / where I should... / Inertia.”
Poems move between the diffumination of sleep and the accuracy and hardness of safety and consciousness. The difference between what is done and what is desired, and the tension, the relationships and the questions it generates, are the main keys of the book, the questions to oneself and the other.
There are poems that have left me over and over again read and surprised, still under their meaning, seeking meaning for them within me; there are poems that leave hunger for more, that fulfill, but above all, in the lines and among them there is the desire and passion to explore the possibilities that the exercise of writing has.
