This book by writer Irene Vallejo was published in Spanish in 2019. The author said in an interview that he had acted thinking that he was going to be of little interest and that he was surprised with his success. He has been awarded several awards, including the Spain Trial Award in 2020.
Infinity is an essay in a joint. A literary story. Written from the pen of an author who loves literature. Vallejo is a classic philologist about learning, showing interest and passion for what he proposes in the tone and style with which he writes the essay. It uses an academic tone, warm and warm; style is close to orality. An exciting and adventurous trip begins in Alexandria, where the creation of the local library is narrated. It talks about the multiple facets of literature in different chapters: writers, book objects, libraries, storytellers, readers, literature teachers, booksellers, account inventors, editors, librarians, libraries, libraries, and a lot of others. The author obtains a balanced and harmonious combination: it provides the data that a test must provide and it has the precision of a research on the one hand. You learn a lot through 450 pages. On the other hand, the magic and the closeness of orality seduces us, as Xerezade's reports do.
I have to confess that this book, which Fernando Rey has translated perfectly, has been a bridge for the change of year. With this book, I've been on my way from 2021 to 2022. It was the last book of the year and the first of the year. I was greatly surprised by the idea that I was about to finish the journey, that there are fewer and fewer pages on the right side, that the weight of the book is kept with the left hand. I would like to continue to travel infinitely along the lines of these letters. The reading has certainly been encouraging.
