At the end of 2020, the first book on the strange ducks Ata Pank and Ate Punky was published. A year later, Atxaga and Valverde published their second delivery of ducks. If in that first part the book was composed of three short stories, on this occasion they tell us a unique story, a consequence of an output or an occurrence of Ata and Ate.
Ata and Puerta are very peculiar ducks; sometimes philosophical, often brandish, with a point of humor and a very quiet view of the world. On this occasion they await in their patio the “helicopters” for “boring”, the helicopters that had to film the European Tour by bike announced by Nelo. However, they do not appear and then, bored, accept Nelo's invitation and watch on television the documentary on the migration of animals under their cover.
And because Xola wanted to be a lion in the first one he met the lions, this time he tells Atari that Ate wants to migrate. He wants to go to the limpopa. This, on the other hand, does not tell your friend anything, but it is clear that he does not want to leave.
They will focus on the desire of the doors, their dreams, they will imagine how they will depart, from the roof of the Main Theatre, applauding people, recording helicopters their flight...
Atxaga (and Valverde, whose images give the story a lot of strength, completing what the writer has pointed out) plays with the reader, creating expectations and playing with surprise. The asteasuarra has long taught us the ability to tell stories adapted to the tastes of different ages and types of readers. On this occasion, as he did before with Bambuo or Xola, Atxaga takes us big through the strafalarian ducks Ata Pank and Ate Punky.
Humor has a lot of weight in history, and in it we see how we can act when we are half forced, it is not enough for things to despise… all from the point of view of humor, through the refined humor that text and images show and often suggest. As at the end: “They flew twice and a little later headed home with Nelo,” and in the illustration we can see the three friends advancing down the street… traveling home.
Atxaga said in the presentation that he could imagine a hundred stories of these characters. We wait, smiling.
