Immersed in the atmosphere at the end of the year, I would like to make here some reflections that we look at the miracle liver and extract from the experiences of summer. Occupation started on 23 June by ELB and Lurzaindia militants to impede the sale of twelve hectares, by Berroeta de Arbona. Three kilometers of house. Often gift! For 120 nights and 120 days, thousands of citizens have come together to highlight this resistance: peasants, citizens, precarious workers, toilets, militants or humble citizens concerned about the problem. In diversity.
The Berros affair could not be won either politically or legally. It was a private matter between an ultra-heavy merchant and a hyper-millionaire buyer. The initiators of the initiative understood the concord without occupation, which there was no way out. So, the only solution was deterrence. And (something) it has been achieved!

What has been played in Arbona, and the fight for land in general, have something of an appearance that David has brought against Goliath. Those who want to speculate on land have a complete system: legislation, tax distribution, succession regulations, promotional campaigns of institutions, notaries' attitudes, the lack of scruples of real estate agencies… But sometimes a tiny rock can also soak up the strongest system.
In recent times there have been some unexpected battalions in this field. In Berroeta, the buyer refuses to buy it. In October, thanks to the mobilisation of the Urkoida, the company Pichet immobilier, with a turnover of EUR 20 million, announced the suspension of the construction of a neighbourhood. In November, after a series of occupations led by the Alda collective, the multinational Airbnb has declared that it would solve a number of illegal situations. And tomorrow, stimulus, Marienia de Cambo will be in charge of the cultivation…
It is important to remember that battles can be won through the struggle. These narrow stones can be simple citizens. But it is essential to give all these local mobilizations a more global dimension. Because we don't fight in Urkoi to keep our neighborhood quiet, or to save our vegetable garden against the TAV, or to protect the landscapes of Lekaroz. We have a whole logic that takes us to the Bajo Creek fighting. These tiny projects we don't want either here or I.
The motto ‘Berroetarron’ has been until winning. The right to housing can be seen from different angles. I think it is also good that guilt is not a destiny and that people condemned to lose their garland. Go ahead, until you win!
