Municipal corruption lunches and revolving doors
Following the administration of the mayor, Javier Beobide, Andoni Ortuzar had to apologize to the citizens of Lemoa in 2013. Two years later he ordered all candidates for mayor and councillor who stood in the 2015 elections not to tolerate corruption.

Sentenced in 2017 to three former councillors: one from Muskiz, one from Vitoria and one from Erandio. The former mayor of Errigoiti was convicted in 2012 and three former mayors (Elantxobe, Ormaiztegi and Zamudio) in 2010, as well as three former councillors of Elantxobe. In this long list there are two other mentions: Former Mayor of Mallabia (2008) and former Mayor of Galdakao (2001).

In recent years the PNV has lost mayors in some of the villages mentioned: Lemoa (2011); Zambrana (2011); Getaria (2011); Zalla (2011 to 2019); Bakio (2015); Errigoiti (2015); Elantxobe (2011); Ormaiztegi (2007) and Galdakao (2019).
