Déjà vu
When I was going to write the October 2021 article, I met the 2019 article. Education doesn't take the title that the phone had. Two years have passed and it can be said that no time has passed. Well, time has passed, but it looks like it's not been more than time. Today, we are also concerned about the same things that we were concerned about two years ago. What has happened to the pandemic as if it were a parenthesis. And although it hasn't completely happened, we're acting as if it had happened. But the things that were not resolved before this happened are still there, in the same situation.
"We all agree that within Education, both dance and dramatic art need their place. And it's time to start taking steps."
This month the EDADEI 3 meeting was held. A day that has brought dance, dramatic art, education and research together. On 16 October in the BAD of Bilbao and 23 in the LABO of San Sebastian, I have once again felt the sense of déjà vu. The issues have been dealt with where we left them, as there has been nothing special about those mentioned. Yes, something has changed substantially; now we do these online meetings, but in the rest everything remains the same. The themes of the round tables have been artistic schools (varied and interdisciplinary), the creation and research in dance and dramatic art, qualifications and awards in dance and dramatic art, and the place or presence of exhilaration and dramatic art in regulated education.
I believe that in recent years we have reached a vicious circle. Spinning around the same issues, getting nowhere. And we realized that the role played by culture in the confinement was nothing more than a cough in the middle of the goat's night. That nice words have remained in that, in words. And we wake up again to the day of the marmote. And we are again debating the usual issues.
We have gathered around the tables many and very different actors and we have all been interested in what has been said, what has been reflected, what has been reflected. We all agree that dance and dramatic art need a place in education and that it's time to start taking steps.
Well, I don't know if we all agree, because there were significant gaps. The representation of the Department of Culture of the Basque Government was presented. The education department was also invited, of course. But nobody appeared. Déjà vu.
