Tears on the nails. I did not understand one of the two words. Lazu. Google search engine. Elhuyar dictionary. We use the synonym in Basque: korrokoi. Nor did I know the meaning in Spanish. And yet, the poet means with the title something that the dictionary can't translate. Tears on the nails. Examples and warnings of what we will find inside the book. Both at the same time.
The book is divided into several sections. The prologue poem (Fictional apology) is followed by six chapters and ends with the last epitaph. It starts with special titles, in which in addition to being original and evocative, it would highlight its ability to put the reader out of play. In other words, it will bring us images that, although easy to understand, are surrealists, thus creating a contrast.
With the pencil, I've tried to collect the set of concepts or ideas that structure each section. It has been impossible for me. Every time I thought an idea had continuity -- the catacras! I found something I didn't expect. And yes, that's what I've loved. I've given three or four laps to the book to learn how to write this critique. And I tell you really: it's impossible to summarize all that Oihana Arana does in the book.
Every time I read, one or the other poem has drawn my attention. I have found something you have suggested to me every time I have read it. And every time I've felt that the writer was playing with me. Or he's taken me by the hand while playing with himself. It does play with words. Just look at the poem Zaunk, on page 17. But it also plays with ideas. With images. Think in words and make me think.
In a superficial look we could think that it refers to the everyday and the small. But paused reading shows us that it says more than it says. It has a critical view of the society in which we live. Arana has the ability to look at things from another place.
The house is a concept that is repeated throughout the book. The home as a body, place of residence, family, deposit and protection of objects that we want to be hidden. Sometimes the house is just a bedroom. Other times refrigerators. Or the shoulder of the otro.La writer of Eskoriatza
Oihana Arana has written a book of poems that we will remember for a long time. I've found words that I'm going to read many times. A literary galaxy with many new worlds and stars.
