No walls, please
Some evidence is not visible. A Navarro journal published on June 2 the evaluation tests for access to university USE, the same day that the students performed them. The headline was challenging for readers: Would they pass the tests done by high school students? I clicked on the History of Spain link. There was only a test in Spanish. There is no trace of Euskaldunes students.
However, according to the newspaper itself, in the 3,869 students who took exams in Navarra that day, 1,068 did so in Basque, 27.6%.
If the newspaper (in favor of the Basque Country) had also published tests in Basque – which did not prevent him from giving the news in Spanish – the readers would have more easily imagined the bilingual reality of Navarra, in which more than a quarter of the students are able to make USE in Basque and study in Basque at the university.

It looks like a banal example, but it is an example of a constant separation between languages. Especially in the media.
In everything that happens, as when you speak only in Basque of books written in Basque, I think of a kind of blurred glass wall that separates and distances languages, rigid, deformant, that makes it difficult to meet languages and speakers. In addition to preventing communication between languages, the wall erases from the sight of Castilian monolinguans the reality of Euskera, the tests in Basque USE or the Basque literature, disfiguring the presence of Euskera. We bilingual people can laugh smoothly with Iker Lauroba's bilingual word games, but Castilian monolinguans still think that Euskera can offer nothing of interest.
This rigorous linguistic differentiation – the things in Basque and the rest in Spanish – is considered natural: the Basques are less and we need a smaller place, exclusive to us. Separators, moreover, are not only enemies of the Basque Country: the “lovers” of the Basque country, without bad intentions, faithfully comply with the “natural” rule of linguistic distinction. Without realizing that many things that seem natural are not so natural.
Instead of trying to make the enemies of the Basque Country favorable, we have to dismantle the differentiating tendencies of supporters – for example, in the media – to make things look that are not obvious and to demarcate the naturalness to certain behaviors. Break the glass walls with Lauroba's jokes.
