Serrulla, like at home in the theater
- Donostiarra Iñigo Serrulla has been on the scene again in the Teatro Principal de San Sebastián for years. Three years ago he presented Life 1/4 with an extraordinarily compact band (Airaka, 2019). Now, in the company of electronics, he's presented more intimidating arrangements for the songs of that work and some surprising news that we'll find in the next work.
Serrulla has not had too much impact on us – well, nowhere else – but his talent does not need the recognition of others. Very close to the modern R&B, it offers levels of intensity around what is known as lo-fi and bedroom pop, measuring emotions and following the principle of "less is more" in production.

This version and the anthem and epic song of the Mar de Txomin Artola have been the great moments of the concert. The latter in particular. The beginning of the melody has been similar to the arrangement of the Boga Boga, made by Aitor Etxeberria, building the melody about bruma synthesizers, and has been ascending and ascending with the help of the autotunea, getting the climates generated by Bon Iver. What has moved me the most, the songs I've seen this year live, is what has moved me the most.
It's no accident that these two songs are the ones that got me the most, the rest I don't understand, because they're in English. I feel like I'm losing 40 percent of the song. And it makes me sad because Serrulla gives incredible quality and rigor in every song. Next time I will ask for subtitles or bertso papers and try not to just stay on the skin.
I've always found it cheap to reward talent. Other factors are more striking to me. Serrulla shows a double talent and shows, without excesses, that he is a great singer and interpreter. That humility is also rewarded. Because when you choose the road honestly, the place that takes you is beautiful.
