In autumn 2020 there was a tragic event: the signatory of these columns turned 40 years old (I timidly advanced something with the list of things to do before the age of 40; and after I turned 40 oath degizuet 40 I did nothing of that list, apart from writing the frivolous columns). Think about the extent to which it was tragic, that I have not dared to write about it until half a year ago. And it's been tragic, not so much on a personal level, 40 years have fallen pretty well, I've even gotten a little rejuvenated -- notice, I bought a static bike -- but on a biological level. Statistically, the average life of the individual is currently around 80 years old, always a little earlier in men (I have no doubt: for a pernicious masculinity, to see if I develop the idea ever). The 40 years would therefore be half, or the centre, of life, some call a floria of life: where you would achieve a balance of all the positive features – wisdom, concern – and a certain absence of negative features – despite the increasingly frequent ones. I prefer to use the “middle age”, more aseptic, because in addition to giving a distancing touch, it is the one that best fits my character. Whatever it is, Stefan Zweig wrote that ascent is the first half of life and descent the second. Let us prepare for what is coming.
And, well, with them in your head, you read Judith Butler, who says with the duel: that you mourn when you accept that the loss we have suffered has changed us forever; that to be considered a life you have to mourn that life; and that all lives deserve a duel, that there is no life that does not deserve the duel. I would say that I have mourned the first half of my life, and that the perspective I have now becomes absolutely attractive to me.
