The quartet has acted in a simple room in Lezo. The room was almost full – you know it. In front of an audience made up of jazz enthusiasts, music school students and former students, they have acted in a natural and fun way: “With the lights I don’t separate how many people you are, 30 or 3,000.” Unfortunately, they are more accustomed to being in front of 30 people.
Angel Unzu
When: 19 March
Where: Gezala de Lezo Auditorium
The project is named Unzu, but it is accompanied by the Polish Andrzej Olejnicza in the tenor saxo, baritone and soprano, the lower Gonzalo Tejada and the Juan Manuel Urriza battery, lowering the age of the group. At some points it seemed that we were in the essay of a group of friends with the created environment, which has left us with other nuances, including, of course, moments not so round.
But far from the most perfect and boring groups and concerts with all well-tied, that's what jazz has to offer: risking and giving away moments that don't repeat. Now, in addition to the magnificent song, they brought other beautiful pieces of the album: Lisbon, Carla and Steve, Trilogía Geroa and 11x8. Perhaps too different to maintain good coherence between them. But in any case, they offer a good electric path for imagination.
If in our country there was no such obsession with “consuming and giving away” culture (sic), the Orain album would have much more prestige, I don’t know when on digital platforms, but what is already physically available. One of the Basque albums of the year is undoubtedly (April and I do not know how many I have already said it), and one of the most important musicians of the time. No show or business, which humbly defends dignity.
Summer comes and with it the popular festivals of towns, neighborhoods and cities. Festivities have always been the refuge of social and political demands, neighborhood relations and popular euphoria. They take our streets and for a few days they are an example of... [+]
