Recently, Marek Wood and James A. Geologists Harrell conclude that this was due to a volcano. But around Bereniz there are no volcanoes. According to the journal Antiquity, the Berenize drain was caused by a severe drought, caused by a sudden climate change and a eruption on the other side of the planet.
Geologists don't know exactly which volcano exploded, but they've identified four major candidates in Mexico, Martinique and Japan.
