We are hardly people, we are hardly citizens. We are consumers. Occasionally users. Potential customers: Service contractors or buyers of goods. If we're not the same product, it's half wrong. For the system, we're not much more, that's something you know. But maybe we ourselves have started to feel too comfortable on paper, demanding our rights as consumers, demanding that our personal interests be met and asking for claims sheets.

However, in the role of consumer we have something to do beyond meeting their supposed needs. Why not, then, overact? Instead of just choosing between the consumer goods that we are placed in the window, why not act as a team? Why not harness the power that we can have as consumers to break with other models together?

On March 4, Errigorri launched a new edition of the campaign The Harvest of the South of Navarra by hand, investing in the vegetable garden of the dish. And that is, when we decide what we're going to fill our plate with, unconsciously or when we realize it, we decide what our vegetable garden is going to fill or what it's going to empty. We can therefore be domestic and home consumers who only look at the plate or the portfolio, or responsible consumers who, in addition to their own dish, look at our vegetable garden. In other words, we can start the road to food sovereignty through our plates, change the forms of consumption to change the forms of production.

Ours is a simple initiative. We have no intention of being giants. This campaign will not turn our vegetable garden upside down. We offer extra virgin olive oil, canned, rice and pasta from the south and central of Navarra, known as ager vasconum, thanks to a communication and distribution system based on the auzolan, at original producer prices. In last year's campaign, for example, nearly 100,000 liters of oil were distributed throughout the Basque Country. This may represent a maximum of 1% of the olive oil consumed in our country.

In any case, we have demonstrated in our short history that working as a team, the conscious choices of thousands of consumers can greatly influence production and take good steps on the road to food sovereignty among all, even if they are simple. Because production adapts to demand, it's no secret.

We have thus seen that as the demand for certain products has been growing, in order to increase production new consensus has been needed between farmers and processors, establishing fair relations for all parties. Or that as the demand for organic products increases, the number of products produced in accordance with the principles of agroecology has increased and has moved from several non-organic to organic producers.

We have seen this as consumers of Euskal Herria look to the orchard of the south of Navarre, more and more Navarros producers have been set up looking at the plaza of the Basque Country. And for example, if not, the labels that would be in Spanish are now in Basque. Today you can visit the websites of the producers who were previously in Spanish in Basque. In recent months, moreover, we have begun to develop Euskera plans in producer companies. It is clear that, as the desire to consume in Basque increases, it is gaining its place in the production of Basque.

At the moment, we have major limitations on the production of different products. Before the end of the campaign, the piquillo peppers and the ecological pits have been exhausted, and many others are running out. However, these limitations, far from being a weakness, must be seen as an opportunity: if demand is strengthened today, we will be in a position tomorrow to take steps to strengthen the production of these products, as we have done so far. Remember that tomorrow's production will depend on today's consumption.

We have said that ours is a simple initiative. It has no vocation of Vía, but of having one more path. Errigorri wants to sound with initiatives of different types and scales that aim to promote other consumption, distributions and production models. Inspiring whenever possible, absorbing in general. Unfortunately, we have a long way to go between the dish and the vegetable garden. Fortunately, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the road for a long time.
