“When I bow down to your corpses, my dear father, instead of kissing your skin, I have fought and I take you a bouquet of hair,” Hervé Guibert wrote in his short novel Mes Parents. The death of parents can bring forth a series of feelings, even the darkest and most painful. The death of parents can put on the table a number of pains and words without saying, awakening in us the feeling of disprotection before the world and bringing to life old ghosts. Although we have been told that the dead should be left in peace, it is sometimes impossible not to talk to them.
LAND AMARGA
ABROAD When: 2 March
N:Teatro Arriaga de Bilbao
Abroad, directed by Amancay Gaztañaga, Laura (Laura Penagosa) receives a call that will endanger her world. For years he had come from Colombia to Euskal Herria and now, after having overcome a number of obstacles, when he has to open his first artistic exhibition, he has been hit by bad news: his mother has died in Colombia and will have to return to the funeral.
Laura faces various ghosts, doubts and fears until she receives a call and the time of the flight arrives. You will need to answer the question of what to do: stay with your partner (Ander Lipus) in Euskal Herria and follow your way, or return to Colombia, your home town. Laura doesn't know what the heart says. It's not from here, because here it feels strange, orphaned. There, in Colombia, it has little, just ghosts. Where it emerged, it is not clear whether to comfort all the sorrows, if it finds the pleasures of family life. While making the decision, she will recover a number of memories related to her mother. Ander Lipus will have to talk and discuss with the characters he's going to represent, those from there and those from here. He will laugh and cry. Laura will have to dance to the rhythm of Ibon RG music until she finds an answer to the questions posed by her immediate future.
At one point in the play, the ghost hiding under the bed stretches out his hand and pulls Aurora out of the ankle. So, he has to talk to him with the ghost in front, he will make replicas, he will have to listen to those who are left to tell him. He puts the sacrifices made in life and the sacrifices left on the way in his face. But whether we like it or not, we have to listen to ghosts, if not, who will tell their story?
