This manifesto was born as a result of the massive feminist mobilizations of 2016 and 2017 (abortion strike in Poland, Argentina march No less, first 8M feminist strike). This is the fourth feminist wave published by Cinzia Arruzza, Nancy Fraser and Tithi Bhattachary, translated to the Basque language for the txalaparta by Danele Sarriugarte.
According to the authors, we live in a historical moment and the time has come for intervention. They claim a feminism of 99%, that is, an anti-capitalist, anti-racist, decolonial and anti-heterosexist feminism. In fact, they say that liberal feminism is done, because it intends to liberate a minority. “We do not want to break the glass ceiling if after cleaning the waste is adapted to most women.”
The capitalist crisis, by leaving social reproduction at the expense of women, has oppression and violence against them: “We need to broaden our point of view on class struggle. Most of the world’s workers are migrants, racialized people, women – zis and trans – and people with diverse capacities.”
This system aims to regulate sexuality and destroy the earth. It is racist and colonialist, and it is not committed to democracy or peace. That is why they call on all radical movements to unite and create an anti-capitalist revolt that will transform society.
But we must also make self-criticism: we must look from the intersectionality to the sister claimed from feminism: “Although in capitalist society we all suffer from misogynistic oppression, oppression takes many faces. Oppression is interrelated and not always easy to see, so it must be made visible through politics, that is, by making conscious efforts to build solidarity.”
The feminist movement is always reviewing everything, and this manifesto, along with the feminist days of early November, is a sign of it. As reflection, thought and discourse are important, we encourage you to read this to carry out practice, action and transformation.
