Different colors of red
- In November, the bertsos are heard as often as the rain in Pamplona. It's a Bertsolaris. Year after year, the change of time reaches the city that darkened the afternoons to ignite the fall. And the truth is that it has become the citation of many nonsense and nonsense, those that don't fail every year. No matter if Tuesday is a wet and a bit sad sunset, Bertsoaro’s rooms are always filled. However, the bertsos do not always come alone, as they often camouflage in talks, theatre, recitals, etc. This year the Bertso and Flamenco have come out of hand in November, as the work Gorria de Miren Amuriza and Askoa Etxebarrieta has been premiered in Pamplona.
The red word means seven senses, seven senses to look at our red world. Look at Amuriza and Askoa Etxebarrieta wanted to disseminate the dictionary definitions and show even more. Thus, they used words and rhythms dyed red to refer to themes such as violence, fraternity, sexuality or referent women. Seven sections complete the show, the bertso and the flamenco as a travel companion. Both have put their expressions at the service of feelings, they said, rather than a fusion, in an attempt to bring both disciplines together. It was, therefore, a kind of dialogue to understand one another. Because the viewer is not going to find the bertso as we understand it, nor the traditional flamenco. The verse is closer to the flamenco rhythm, and flamenco is reduced to the measure of the bertsos.
The Condestable was invaded by the old verses and coplas, accompanied by a game of red lights and shadows. Full chairs in the patio and on the first floor, people sitting on the ground at the sides of the columns. Amuriza directed the show with a warm voice, defending with a strong voice Etxebarrieta’s words to the beaten Takoi. Red and naked, the first times aren't easy, and sometimes you noticed nervousness, but the audience thanked the honesty of the artists. Even though there is still some green sign in red, you will have time to mature into the hands of these two working artists. Amuriza and Etxebarrieta present a humble and interesting proposal, with the aim of enriching the palette of red with bertsos and flamingos.
