And he finished as a painter. The painting is for John Berger (London, 1926-Paris, 2017) a complication of poetry. Maybe that's where the poems that draw the white on the white come from, that overlay the crystal and the ice. Beñat Sarasola, in the prologue of Kaie’s Thirty-Two Poetry, offers us a special way to look at the mundo.El author of Ways of Seeing draws, reports and criticizes art from a distant point of the universe, that place where everything looks, where everything can be understood: “Start with a rectangle/ with a table/ on top axes/ and glaciers/ and the skull of a white/ snow-lost bull.” He himself said that the poet puts the language out of time or, “more concretely, the poet approaches language as a place, a meeting point in which time has no purpose, where time itself is devoured and dominated.”
From a rich abstraction, all pieces are suggestive by their colors and nuances, not so much by their literal meaning. With a few words they say a lot, they leave it all said in a few words: “On your knees/ to keep the pot/ mother cooker/ headscarf/ I remember/ and I call you// The poppies behind your house/ are scattered in my clouds”.
An exceptional and passionate observer for the most sublime revelations in the details, in this anthology you can lose yourself by simplicity. Poetry often does not need heavy adornments, but a little freedom and free. So Berger gets a healthy and personal lightness, of story or even of sketch. For the poet, fiction, essay, theatre, narrative, etc. are not very important, as he writes above these categories, spinning stories, intertwining sensations: “An empty white trolley/ pulled by a blue horse/ behind a tram/// the trolley is filling with snow.” John Berger is a writer who, based on experience, knew how to make universal emotions, as deep as the sea, that looks like a shell on the way.
