He has worked at the Institute of Nuclear Physics in San Petertersburg until the death of Viktor Gorxkov, head of research in Theoretical Physics. The biotic bomb theory has physical and ecological components. Physicists: winds sow from low-condensation areas of water vapor to high-condensation areas. Ecological: Due to the evaporation capacity of green leaves, the condensation of steam is higher on forests than on oceans.

And forests are primarily responsible for moisture. The main strategy must therefore be the overall survival of the forest. On the one hand, because forests have the ability to swallow more CO2. On the other hand, if the destruction of forests continues, the reduction in CO2 will not solve the fading of the climate.

The Amazon is the most powerful biotic bomb on the planet, from the Atlantic it penetrates huge bodies of water on land through many kilometers. What if they destroy the Amazon rainforest? Most climatologists plan to reduce rainwater in this area by 20-30%. On the contrary, Macarieva and Gorxkov claim that the loss could reach 95%. That happened in Australia when 50,000 years ago, when a man came to Earth and his forests were destroyed, causing the desert.

What if we tackled the climate crisis through massive plantations of trees? “Repopulations with few tree species lack the boot characteristics of the biotic pump. To give you two very simplified examples: if you change the cacti, very little water will evaporate and they will not be able to retain the wet atmosphere; if eucalyptus plants, they will start to evaporate quickly, but they will not be able to retain the wet soil. Like the other, the biotic bomb won't work. As it will not work in China’s massive plantations.”

The destruction of forests immediately leads to the isolation of rains and the drying of streams, as has been seen in recent centuries in Russia, Colombia, etc. Attempts at reforestation don't have years to influence the climate, it takes decades, a time to organize a complete biota in a broad space. That is why researchers prioritize the comprehensive and standing maintenance of old forests.

“Any climate change is often attributed to ‘global warming’, but desertification is due to something very different: the deterioration of the biotic pump from atmospheric humidity. The main message of the biotic pump theory is that the good health of the surface water cycle is mainly linked to the state of the vegetation cover and not so much to geophysical conditions. Global destruction of natural ecosystems leads to climate destabilization, which does not necessarily mean warming.
