Like every year, music lovers have an important quote in Donostia: the Quincena Musical celebrated in August. This year's edition, the 80's, is really satisfying, perhaps too much. With this I do not want to give a negative note, quite the opposite. But it is true that this year’s programme is not very courageous. I imagine that the organizers would choose much daring titles, but when the budget is limited, in some way you have to ensure success, and for that you need a conservative program, necesariamente.Como I have
already done in previous years, among all the proposals I will make some recommendations, with the sessions that I think are more interesting. However, among the recitals I am not going to mention there will be real jewelry, of course, but you have to choose. I'm going to give you a session for each cycle. I'm sure if you come near you, you won't regret it.
To start with, a couple of concerts from the Kursaal Auditorium cycle: On the one hand, the opera Madame Butterfly in Puccini. Even if we hear it a thousand times, we will never get bored with this wonderful work. A beautiful, melodious, romantic, exciting job… It has everything to fascinate the public. In addition, on this occasion the protagonist is our Ainhoa Arteta, and that gives more points to the programa.Por other side, I
recommend the two concerts that the London Philharmonic Orchestra will offer, under the batuta of Juanjo Mena. They will play the integral of the piano and orchestra concerts of Beethoven, together with the soloist Javier Perianes, and I am sure it will be global.
In the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, the recital offered by the Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili cannot be lost. He is a very special, virtuous, sentimental, technically perfect artist… He will bring works of Schubert, Liszt and Stravinsky and give much to speak, no doubt.
From the Quincena Andante cycle, the concert by Ensemble Diderot seems very interesting to me. This session in Senpere will be attended by Telemann, Leclair, Aubert, Corrette and Boismortie.
To conclude, the musical Thursdays of San Telmo will have as guests Ona Cardona (clarinet) and Josep Colom (piano). We'll enjoy an absolutely romantic program with these unique musicians. Don't miss it!
