The political structures that give an image of strength are not eternal either. The European Union is just around the corner. The Spanish State, for its part, is in a state of doubt. What has changed? Supports.

With regard to the Spanish State, the so-called Scheme of 78 carried out two main operations in the process of consolidation. One is to integrate the labor movement, to agree with leftist parties and unions, attracting them to the narrow limits of the restored state. The second, without taking fully into account the nations of the State, has been integrated into the network of the different autonomies, always under the maximum authority of the center.

For these two operations, the State had the essential supports, both within the labor movement and in the anti-slip bumpers, in the first case, the Spanish left enthusiastically adapted, with its parties and unions, to the new State Pacts. In the case of nations, on the other hand, the State has been a little more complicated. From Galicia, there the Franco left deep social roots, and without concealing any prestigious politician who remained in power from the old regime to the farce. Until today, Galiza has been neutralized in such a brutal manner.

There was nothing similar in Catalonia and the Basque Country, and in both cases it was very difficult to obtain legitimization of the Regime by itself, since in its first attempts (Political reform, Constitution, NATO...) The state largely failed. So what do you do? Involve the most versatile local representatives in state management. In exchange for their loyalty to the main State structures, they made secondary autonomous political structures available. This has served them in the last decades, while both jeltzales and pujolism have considered this autonomic scheme very useful.

All this is changing, because to a large extent the stratagem of the State has been manifested under an alleged autonomy: The State has never considered Catalonia or the Basque Country as a nation; it has also “hairstyle”, reduced or denied without shame the concerted capacities; thus it has revealed a concept that in those treaties of autonomy was key: The concept of “bilingualism” has shown that, in practice, the powers of the State use two very different words. One of appearance and one of real assurance of his power. There's no bilaterality anywhere, just one word commands.

What can be changed then, seeing this so? For that Regime of 78 may lose its support, both in Catalonia and in the Basque Country. The first great crack received by the police occurred in Catalonia. And that is where sokatira is produced at the moment: a part pulling from Catalonia towards the achievement of a Republic of its own. The others, from the state, were heading towards the
centro.Esa sokatira deserves our attention now. See, for example, the behavior of the Madrid shooters, who are not supporters of fair play, and if they suspect that their forces are in favour of the Catalans, they are also able to cut the same rope. Or to leave the play unfinished and impose another playing field in their favor, such as elections at the state level.

But what to say about the different attitudes that are manifested in Catalonia or even in Euskal Herria?In these cases it is necessary to clarify where we throw, what is our game and what is our side. Because in that sokatira there are no intermediaries.
