Flowers and tips
I've experienced two feminist strikes. There have been only two, but I am already far away another 8 March, which gave us “congratulations”, which were shaped like flowers or chocolates, which invited you to remain the best home caretaker. It is not far in time, but it is in space – physical and mental – at least in mine. That seems to me to be an ideological achievement, a step. A strike requires implications, strikes are uncomfortable and discomfort – and contact with the economy – moves things from one side to the other.
The question is where does power move? It is clear that for companies that trample on working women*, for men who do not care about care or for the different agents that legitimize violence, stereotypes… flower time was much easier. But when street movements cannot be stopped, the usual strategy is “fusion”, but neutralizing the ideological part and assuming the aesthetic part. You have seen the wonderful videos of the Feminist Movement of Euskal Herria on the concept of “purple bleaching” by humorist Beatriz Egizabal. The purple laundering is, among other things, that Iberdrola organizes these days storytelling contests about “women”, or that the men of the City of Vitoria-Gasteiz want to take a collective photo on the occasion of March 8, after the eviction of the feminist space Talka… Then comes the adhesion of the Queen of Spain and not address the problem of hundreds of viral straws. And this, folks, is not the “fault” of the feminist movement. This is a system survival technique. But it seems that pointing out any possible weak point in the movement is a source of joy for many. “You’re wrong.”
To the capitalist heteropatriarchate, we know who the enemies are, we have never forgotten it, we make them visible. And if Ana Botín says that on March 8 of this year he has put a veneer on the tip of his nose, no, it's not because feminism has failed in speech, it's not because it doesn't highlight the class oppression factor, it's not because we want to fight along with booty. We don’t believe in the lie of “liberal feminism,” you know so much. You even get bored to give him explanations.
