A great novel
- It happened two weeks ago. Jordi Évole interviews Alfonso Guerra in the Salvados de La Sexta program The journalist has asked Guerra if he helps the independentists to call the coup leaders, and his answer has come very soon: "You act as a pocket cure, because you have accused your husband of being the woman murdered by ETA that going back to town doesn't help fix things." And then the journalist said, "Don't you think he compares the Catalan to what the great Aranburu novel describes is too much?"
A great novel. Valuation, however, is not literary, since Aranburu's book has left the literature and has become a moral meter. It has created a new consensus: To show how far someone is a democrat, there are no clearer signs than having read and liked Patria. By proclaiming that it is an excellent novel, Évole pleases Guerra to accept it again in the Democratic community, which threatens to expel it with the presentation of the book of Aranburu. Or, in other words, Évole wanted to question the democratic sense of the leader of the PSOE by comparing the Catalan process with a coup d’état, and then Guerra has put the penis on the table to show how great it is. And Évole could answer that he did not accept that honest answer, that Patria is a mediocre fiction that has nothing to do with Catalonia. But instead, he too has put on the table his democratic penis, so nice and soft. Great novel by Aranburu.
This passage by Salvados highlights the great problem of a certain current left: it tries to respond to the positions of the right, even to undemocratic positions, previously accepting the framework and the references that the right had established. Recognizing that it's a great novel.
