Concept, enthusiasm and intensity
This quartet of Vitoria-Gasteiz has surprised me by the revitalization of the post-hardcore, by the concerts of intense energy, and because the first work is a conceptual disk. They pick the terrible events of history and write to each of them a song. In total, 12 bombings of Gernika, 3 March of Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Leningrad War, Srebrenica and Malaga-Almeria, among others. All under the ironic title of This is fine.
Asier, Mikel, Koke and Oki created the band in 2016 and, as soon as they realized, they already have a very nice album on the street, they have received two important prizes – in the Villa de Bilbao competition they have received the Azkena Rock and Live Culture awards – and they have been very well received by the public. And they live all of this thankful and giving the most rounded concerts possible.
Although the result reminds us of some American groups that acted mainly in the 1990s, the album “This album is made in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Thank you” has been recorded in the Sagasound SLL study of the city of Alavesa under the direction of Koldo Sagaskume.
Fat boy, who opens the album, submits to At The Drive In, one of the favorite pieces in balance between emo and post, at a frenetic pace and with a strong voice. Below is Unit 731, in that broad and living sense of hardcore, like Rites Of Spring. Defense of van has everything: label post-hardcore, intensity, elegance, half-tempos and special environments.
