Facing the west
It's not normal for a music group to have that name (which group! But, of course, the members of the group are from Bergara, with a lot of experience and quite discarded: they have worked punk rock in the Criminal Brigade group, with bluesa Belceblues, folk from Bizardunak, bar-zulots of the coast with Fiachras and, to get awake or even more mature in the Viñer River project.
About three years ago, though, they came up with country-rock work and went to the West with desire and soul. Thus, after one year they published the album Soft and strong, a work that involved the fishing of this essence. But later, in the direct ones, they were able to demonstrate that beyond country-rock, they were also able to rock American roots, and that they convey credibility in what they did. This is due, among other things, to the round pronunciation in English of the singer Txus Martínez.
Now, they come back with their new work, Thousand tons of steel, in which they have made a qualitative leap. It's a sleek, very clean, hard-working piece, and even though country-rock and American rock play a fundamental role, they're also getting into other registers, which allows them to capture a diverse audience. They recorded it with Fredi Pelaez in the Potto studio and the result is very bright.
The beast is absolutely melodic, presenting a warm and close voice that immerses us in country-rock. Better than ever hit! It's, without a doubt, a very vivid, very sticky dotted guitar. Part time singer interrupts the rhythm by bringing vanity and cha-chat closer to Willy DeVille's cadence. Neon valley and Forever Gone are cut off from the classic country pattern, dancing and real. Boats of shame is more epic, with an Irish touch, but it also has views of the rock of the 1960s. Such mistery is a real American folk. Cannon king is a fun surfing rock with a sharp rhythm. On the road you’ll find, Deafening lights and The dusk are ballads with a lot of feeling. And finally, Revenge hillbillya is a dark piece, bastarda, that goes in and rushes into the Indian forest.
