Arms industry business
- In recent weeks we have come across a great deal of political hypocrisy: denouncing migrant street vendors (manteres) and, at the same time, concealing the business of the arms industry, despite the fact that this business has caused the death of many children in the secret war carried by Saudi Arabia and other countries against Yemen. In the Spanish state, Citizens and pp have harshly charged against the mantars, although they have not materialized anything. And these have to fight against bad weather, the police and racist politicians over and over again.
While some politicians provoked manteres with fascist and xenophobic attitudes, Saudi Arabia, the main driving force behind the military offensive against Yemen and specialized in crimes against humanity, bombed buses going to school and killed 43 children. These bombs are part of the arms industry business of the Spanish State and Basque companies are also present. The business has been matured by the close relationship between the Spanish monarchy and Arab chess. During the period 2012-2016, Spain sold arms to Saudi Arabia for an amount of EUR 1.4 billion. In 2017 there were another 361 million, 133% more than the previous year: military aircraft, grenades and artillery ammunition.
Where are the fascist and xenophobic parties on the right? Where is the rest of the political spectrum, including the Basque and Spanish Left? They feel silent about these kinds of situations. Where are the intellectuals of the Spanish State? Where are the Basques? In the press, radio and television... The Basque tertullians also bored us – except Tasio, Fitero and some other – with the affairs of Casado or the woman of the president of Spain. Summer is no excuse for the complicit silence that is being maintained with regard to the murderous arms business.
