A Wednesday at 20:30 pm and to the movies. Plans of this kind are occasionally created in Vitoria-Gasteiz. On this occasion, the excuse was the premiere of a documentary, but it could be anything else: the play, for example; the concert, the exhibition, the performance, or... And of course, you'll say, "That's also in our house." And you'll be right: I haven't said anything new. But I have a small reason to say these things, because the documentary mentions all these other facets: theater, cinema, music, painting, photography... Documentary on several people who work in Vitoria in the Present: either organizers, agents or artists.
In particular, the documentary focuses on interviews conducted on twelve stories: cinema, performances in nature, book, drawing, storytellers, singing... of all that the fourteen interviewees do. The authors – Iñaki Landa, Mikel Buruaga and Gindi Auzmendi – asked them about their work, about the facilities and difficulties they have encountered, about the obstacles and aids received from the institutions and, of course, about Vitoria-Gasteiz. And I say “of course,” because that is the guiding thread of the documentary: The current creation of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Although this is the main thread, entrepreneurship and self-management make it the work of all creators.
The documentary is well done, it's elegant. But I have the impression that the consequence is going to be different, depending on where the recipient is, what knowledge he has of the Alavesa capital. Let me therefore write conclusions for both.
From Vitoria Buesa Arena, Mendizorrotza, Alavés, Celedón, Plaza de la Virgen Blanca, and for those who know Kutxi Street: Surely, whatever your place of residence, and if you are a fan of culture, you will feel envious for it. You will realize that you can find countless cultural expressions of different styles, for all tastes. In addition to the typical topics, you will receive a small sample of the opportunities offered by the inhabitants of a very lively city and you will certainly wish to go.
For the vitorians and for the Alaveses who are not from Aiaraldea, for those who have spent 4 years studying Basque Philology or IVEF and have returned from sorrows to your peoples, or for those who work there and seek excuses to stay there: You're wrong if you think the documentary won't teach you anything new. I put you in the head that you will find more of a story that you do not know. And the worst thing is that you will realize that that creator goes to the same bar as you.
Surely some of these days will announce some action to you in your environment, on the web or on television. If both have not lost it.
