As a kid, I made the role of a radio announcer, punching a box of shoes, turning my back. As I entered the TV at home, I made a paper TV with a hole on the side of the screen and passed the paper ribbons that I had drawn, drawing the series. He had the habit of writing magazines that only the family saw. In genes, I should have had a passion for journalism. But no. Although I thought, I did not study journalism because, among other things, in the Basque Country it could only be done in the Opus of Pamplona. In the end, I stayed in Bilbao and got another bachelor's degree that I've almost never used in my life.

In college I met the guys from the Pott band in Bilbao La Vieja: Bernardo Atxaga, Ruper Ordorika, Joseba Sarrionandia.. I won't say we were friends, but we did become friends, and until today we say goodbye if we saw each other. The fact is, more than once they tried to encourage me to write something in the literary magazine they published. At the same time, I met Xabier Gereño, who I think has been unjustly forgotten and ignored, and to see why I didn't write or write novels. I always didn't, because literature didn't attract me.

It didn't attract literature, but it did attract journalism. And I started collaborating in Anaitasuna magazine: folding, stamping -- until Tomás Trifol, named director, offered me to do "other" reports, because I wanted to renew the magazine, it was too serious. I answered yes. I wrote mostly about theater, cabaret and things like that, because that was what I liked the most. Once I've started, I can't stand, and even though I have another job, I've spent my whole life collaborating in a lot of media, both in print and on radio and television, both in Basque and Spanish.

I once heard Harkaitz Cano an anecdote telling him how he had known Paul Auster. I really liked it. I remember ending by saying: “I am the man who stepped on Paul Auster.” Well, in the last class I gave before I retired, I had the idea of an anecdote that had happened to me, which I've barely told. While in Anaitasuna, Joseba Sarrionandia collaborated with Zeruko Argia. One day, I didn't have time to write his weekly paper, and he asked me to replace him. This is how my first article was published in this weekly, although I do not remember if it had appeared by my name or by yours. In any case, paraphrasing Cano, so I finished my last class, saying: “I am the man who was Joseba Sarrionandia’s black.”
