The study that the Elkar Foundation has carried out on the cultural consumption of the Basques has made a dent in the world. In the field of teaching, it is urgent to direct from top to bottom the curriculum of the Basque Language and Literature from the first courses to the baccalaureate. To leave aside the mimetic complexes and radically change the contents so that the subject in question is a nice showcase of Basque production. ETB also has to be reinvented so that the common Basque has again the reference of the cult standard. It is not a question of all the speakers becoming Amonarriz or Euzkitze, but of giving that standard its natural place, in a field that is shamefully abandoned by this means: the dubbing of series and films.
Compared to them, it seems to be too pressing an issue for the image of the Basque, but it will once again have to be addressed. As a century ago, and although we appeared in different forms, we still have the rarity of writing as a genuine example of being Basque.
