Three black men each with a table in front of him. About tables, synthesizers, sanpleres, filter machines and others. Electric guitar on the liver, bass next door. Classical guitar in a corner. Pads also to simulate the battery and other sounds. Each with a microphone.
The Low Roar group did not come with empty hands to this concert in Biarritz! Some appliances, cables, machines... well, but that can lead to technical problems... And so it happens in the second song! The electric guitar “doesn’t want to work.” A colleague tells us something like this in English (I don't get half). “With less pedal, it would still work” (inside me). The guitarist has many pedals, but with the same function; reverberations, delayas, a harmonizer, distortions. They are all analogous and traded between songs, if not in the same song.
Because of this technical problem, a little panic is set on the taboo. After releasing the spler of the third song, there's a good time when the group members, by gestures, agree what each of them is going to do. Mimicking the guitar “You the guitar?”, teaching the microphone “I the second voice” and raising two sick people.
They exchange roles on guitar, bass, Pat, synthesizer. The Low Roar group has calculated well what it can do with six hands and three voices. Sanpleres are widely used to transmit rhythmic phrases. Their sounds are made, sweet and always suited to the song they give at the moment.
The ones at Low Roar offer us a mix of electro-arrow-pop-dance (and more). Their songs are always obvious. Beautiful covers. It seems to me that although I don't know the group, I've already internalized the songs before I start. Those moments are beautiful.
But the moment I want the most, is in the middle of the concert; again, with a new song, they have managed to make him jump the salsa up ... and there, they break all the sanplers cutting them off. In this void you can only hear the cleaning of the three voices. It is a very special moment: the music floats in the air and the members of the group extend the present, as if it were an elastic time.
“How long does intemporality last?” After a fortnight of songs, the Spanish-American group leaves the scene. And a lot of memories from the audience.
