The Euskadi Symphony Orchestra brings us to a musician of great personality and with a special charism, the Swedish trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger. And on this occasion we had the opportunity to enjoy two visions of this artist. On the one hand as a soloist and on the other as a director. In both, brilliant, although in reality the role of the soloist was better suited to its characteristics. The trumpet has an accurate technique, is very expressive and close to the public, and has an exceptional freshness in all styles. With all these ingredients, a star is made, and sometimes these kinds of stars need a guide to get the pack with the orchestra. Hardenberger did a great job with the orchestra, it is true, but perhaps the strength of the Swede and the quality of the orchestra would achieve a more fitting and elegant result with another conductor. This is my totally personal thought.

We took a walk of different styles, beautiful. For starters, we enjoy Haydn's false innocence. Prelude to Creation: the representation of chaos came to us just and delicate. Then we heard the concert for trumpet and string orchestra on my major, strong and expressive bemol. Here Mr Hardenberger took a long time. He played with cleanliness at all times and marveled at the third movement so famous for his audience. To end the first part of the program, the 22nd anniversary of the composer himself. Symphony in my major bemol, in which they touched the philosopher, keeping a clean and pure style.

In the second part, we hear another smell. Japanese composer Töru Takemitsu made Paths in tribute to Witold Lutoslawski. Takemitsu conducts a special interview in this work. The trumpet interspersed with deafness and without deafness, making a suggestive melodic exercise. Hardenberger, thanks to his incredible technique, made an excellent interpretation. The concert ended with a concert for the Lutoslawski Orchestra. Folklore, textures, sets of bells, classicism and avant-garde are mixed in this work of effect and appeal. The Euskadi Orchestra, under the aegis of Håkan Hardenberg, made a truly extravagant and brilliant reading. Very good.
