The days of the great demonstrations are always sweet. Whatever the battle. With the pleasure of satisfaction and success, the void felt at the end of a long consolidated event, moved in the organizational phase by the energy absorbed or the tension lived. But above all, because, by winning the challenge, the pressing question “and now what?” is revived. That is, a complicated exercise to define the development of the strategy and the next tactical objective. The demonstration on 9 December is no exception in this respect. Moreover, in the case of prisoners, the frustration that may result from the possible lack of effect of mobilization adds to the suffering and despair of many people.

The demonstration in Paris has certainly been a success. It has gone smoothly, as it was thought and can be said that the objectives set by the organisation have been achieved. What? To follow Luhuso and the dynamic that emerged since 8 April, to retain and develop the broad consensus reached on disarmament, on another consequence of the armed conflict, more complicated for some sectors than the return of arms, socialization of the issue of prisoners through France, to expand the list of supports outside Euskal Herria quantitatively and qualitatively and, consequently, a good demonstration of force that facilitates direct interpellation.

However, in the minds of protesters returning from Paris and in all conversations were similar questions and concerns: if nothing moves or only a few gestures move, what else will we have to do? We feel like mountaineers who want to conquer a mountain for the first time. We would like to reach the top at any price, but we have to guess the path, because it's not done and worse, because we don't know if there's a way. The pessimism of intelligence easily lists the reasons why French power maintains this situation: The lack of courage to move away from Madrid, the political risk of dealing with the situation of the people considered to be terrorists today, the fatigue of becoming a priority issue on the political agenda of the Government, the hot news of Catalonia, Corsica or Canada (New Caledonia, official name) that scares the Jacobin State and can accentuate the contradiction with the Basque Country. Not forgetting the strategic interest of the two states in diverting popular forces from the sovereign process, blocking the issue of prisoners. The optimism of the will, as well as the experience of recent months, remind us that conditions are built step by step and constantly change the situation, creating new opportunities. There we are, breathing out the window of hope, looking at the quote of 13 January.
