Who says that the most suitable places for concerts are the big theaters? Why don't we get close to dwellings that are an important part of our culture? To answer these questions he has created the Baserriko Uzta initiative with the collaboration of EHKOlektiboa, Paper Kontzertuak and the digital informative Zuzeu. They have organized a concert by a musician from each station in several villages of Euskal Herria. The project started in November.
In addition to the small baserritars that produce organic products, EHKOlektiboa also includes the neighbours and neighbours that have joined the work of these baserritars. Josebe Blanco, member of the association, explained in the Basque Country Irratia that the idea of the Baserriko Uzta initiative came out of the working group made up of citizens: “In the collective we were doing interesting things looking inwards, but we saw that we had to get all that work out in some way. And how better than in a playful way?”
They're not going to be simple concerts. The concert attendees will have the opportunity to visit the hamlet and get to know their works closely. The goal is to teach what they do on farms and how they do it, to bring citizenship closer to home. “In our homes culture has a great presence. When we are working, in the barn or making cheese, the music is always there,” says the member of the association and the house who will receive the first concert of the initiative.
They have organised four concerts within the Baserriko Uzta initiative. The first of them was 4 November in the Pikunieta de Blanco village in Antzuola (Gipuzkoa). Those attending the autumn harvest were able to enjoy the Anari concert. The following harvest, for the winter, will be held at the Arbegain farmhouse in Etxarri-Larraun (Navarra) in February: On this occasion it will be Beltxaren Duo's turn, which will play live. Rafa Rueda will participate in the spring harvest in May at the Santa Clara de Orduña (Bizkaia) farmhouse. Lastly, Mikel Urdangarin will close the program with a concert to be held next July in Arbona (Lapurdi).
“There are a lot of young people signing up, and many of them would not approach the dwelling. The initiative can be a way to bring young people who in principle don’t have much interest in the farmhouse,” explains Blanco. All initiatives that reconcile us with the dwelling are welcome.
