The time has come to enjoy the opera for fans, as the ABAO season begins on 21 October. The ABAO must be congratulated in its 66 season for maintaining quality and enthusiasm for so many years. More or less titles, in many cases according to economic crises, have remained at the highest levels than usual.

This year's programme is particularly appealing. We'll have four repertoire titles that explain the history of the opera: Don Pasquale, Manon, Salome and Norma. On the other hand, the Tutto Verdi cycle will continue with Giuseppe Verdi’s I Masnadii opera, which is rarely scheduled. The goal of this cycle is to represent all Verdi's operas over the years. Of the composer’s 28 operas, there are only three titles left to represent, not to mention this year’s one.

These five operas show the evolution of the lyric world. From the I Masnadii de Verdi to the Salome of Richard Strauss of the 20th century, with his romantic work Norma de Bellini.

The stars will also be present in this year’s edition: The Venezuelan tenor Achiles Machado will be the protagonist of I Masnadieri; the great bassist Carlos Chausson will be the protagonist in the performances of Don Pasquale; the tenor Celso Albelo will act as the protagonist in the Manon opera; the American soprano Emily Magee will be Salome and to make Anna Pirozi and Gregory.

In the Foso, on the other hand, we will have the best together: Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, Alain Guingal, Erik Nielsen and Pietro Rizzo will accompany the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa and the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra, which will take part in the Donostian festival.

However, the ABAO has prepared more activities for this building n.Pretende open it to the new public operas, and with this objective they continue with the Opera berri program, which reduces the price of tickets by half, and with the GAZTEAM program they intend to reach the 750 young partners. And we cannot forget the ABAO-TXIKI season, aimed at boys and girls. This year is the 13th edition and will have the following titles: Toyshop, the magical world of the pampians, in November, a Christmas story inspired by the story of Dickens, Peter and the wolf, in March, and Allegro Vivace, to end the season.
