Sharing the lessons
Arantxa Urretabizkaia states that it has taken twenty years to do the paper he wanted to write. And it's no wonder. This is the subject of the scares of Irun and Hondarribia, one of our clashes that can be described as “Basque conflict”. That becomes taboo.
The chronicle, testimony, essay and autobiography can be found in the book bidean ikasia (Bidean ikasia). Sometimes we have an objective observer (as much as possible), trying to describe what is happening around them, realizing the evolution that has occurred since the intention of an egalitarian alarming appeared, from many angles.
Along with this, we have a literary testimony that tells us the experiences of a neighbor from Hondarribia, interspersing emotions and actions around Alarde and inciting the reader's desire and skin.
He has just won the Euskadi Prize for Literature with this work, “the result (because) of a writer who has been able to look at reality in its entirety in full maturity” and “fulfills the objective of literature; to emote, to caress and to make light on a subject”. The author says “without hatred (I have written it), because the goal is not revenge, but reparation”. We therefore believe that it is readable for everyone.
The narrative voice of this book looks outward and inward. He claims and denounces what happens in his village through the polyhedral description of the situation, because the truth is achieved by collecting different views. But along with this, we have a first-person narrative that shares with the readers their experience, expressing their pains, joys and concerns.
After all, it makes us a proposal for reflection. Dismantling the Alarde and extending the proposal to construct with readers a solution to this conflict. And we want to thank him for the effort we have made from here, because talking about a taboo is not easy, let alone from the bottom of the conflict.
Note that the Polynesian word “tabu” means “forbidden”, something unacceptable to a group, which cannot be touched, which is considered strange, an unforgivable failure and which can be sanctioned by law.
