Failure in body posture can come from the eyes, feet, mouth or ears, for which we send the information to the brain. The information can be adequate or inadequate; for example, the one with a vague eye and the other strong sends false information about reality to the brain. If you don't work the problem, the brain will adapt to that situation, but it won't be a normal situation, and that will have consequences elsewhere in the body. This is what optometrist Teresa Olabarria Ruiz tells us: “The symptoms we feel in the body usually originate somewhere else.”
Sensations of instability, dizziness, dizziness, back pain, headaches, post-trauma and muscle aches are some of the symptoms that can be felt when the postural system is unbalanced. Olabarria states that doctors, neurologists, radiologists, otoneurologists or ophthalmologists can see bodies without problems if posturology is not working. And that after receiving treatment to blur pain, when symptoms reappear, the problem should be addressed by other professionals: “It’s going to be the time to analyze body attitude.
These professionals may belong to different areas. Olabarria has spoken from the point of view of optometry, but he has also said that podiatrists, dentists and otorrins intervene: “First we have to know where the imbalance is from, because the origin may be different. If he comes from his feet, he will work with the podiatrist, but if he comes from his eyes, with the optometrist”: He tells us that many of those who approach the olabarria are from other specialists. “Understanding that we have everything connected is the key to the solution. It is also important to know the views and elaborations of other specialists”.
“As I said, I work from the visual system, from the eyes,” says Olabarria. The above solutions are visual therapies or postural eyewear, or visual therapies with postural eyewear.
“A lens can be used to zoom in or out something and make something bigger or smaller. But the goal of these glasses is not that, because it doesn’t have to be a vision problem,” he says. “If the vertical axis of the body is moved to the right, the prisms will manage to move to the other side until the axis moves towards the center and, thus, balance is achieved. In the case of the feet it is easier to understand: by putting the inner soles in the shoes changes the way to tread and stabilize the body. With the glasses, we'll do the same thing, but with the eyes. We will deceive the brain so that the body is positioned correctly.” In some cases, he explained that the glasses are sufficient and in others glasses and internal soles are needed. Or the dental apparatus.
Olabarria has set a practical example of effectiveness: “To one client, standing, I asked him to put his left leg on one scale and the right one on another. His body weighed 20 kilos less on the one on the left. I told her to close her eyes and the floor was balanced. The problem is clear in this case.” This person sought a solution through their postural goggles.
