40 years and snowball
In November 1976, in the context of the Durango Fair – which was held around November 1 at the time – a friend and I decided that a Basque gay association was necessary and that, as no one else would, we should create it.
It was imminent: it was underway for January-February. Things were a little quick, pushed by the freedom of the people. We left for the first time in a demonstration in favour of amnesty with our own banner and then in another; but in November 1977 we called to demonstrate for the first time, together with various social groups. The appearance was contrary to the current Law of Danger and Reinsertion, which sanctioned the mere suspicion of homosexual. It was quite successful, because we got together four thousand people. The police scattered him and beat us up. I could keep counting, but I would need hundreds of pages like this.
This year we celebrate its fortieth anniversary. But we doubt that we are in a position to celebrate something. In some respects, of course, we have made a lot of progress. Perhaps more than we dreamed at the beginning, but we are still concerned about the need to continue working, attacks, etc.

Fortunately, other groups have been created over the years, and today there is a very nice network. In any case, I have noticed a bad practice: those who start in the militancy usually create their own community, without knowing or taking advantage of what they have already done before. I find it regrettable, among other things, the waste of time and energy. He said in the previous article that young people usually think that the world starts with them. And that's right. As in any sphere of life, in our almost everything is repeated cyclically. At first, for example, we were talking about bipolarity. I mean, we were against everything being divided into two: male and female, active and passive ... Today's young people don't use the word bipolar -- probably because psychiatry uses it to refer to a disease -- but binary. Because we had to change society among all of us, we and we talked about collaboration with other popular movements, which now use intersectality up and down. The worst part is that you're convinced you've invented those concepts.
But in a way, I'm glad. On the one hand, because the best way to acquire something is the result of one's own reflection and, on the other, because the concept gets thicker in every turn it gives, as has happened with the snowball, complementing it with nuances.
