What world will we leave to future generations? Does the world walk towards wealth and poverty? Accumulation of the wealth of a minority. Eight people are about half a million inhabitants of the planet, the same amount as 3.500 billion in the world, accompanied by biodiversity (more than half of vertebrates have disappeared even 40 years) and the impoverishment of mother earth. 23,250 livestock plants and species are in danger of extinction. The view of scientific publications gives us vertigo. The disappearance of languages is linked to the impoverishment of the diversity of species. This article is a reflective manifesto for diversity. It claims linguistic diversity and diversity of the most distant species. Cultural and natural diversity. Yes, you can build another world. It is not a utopia, because it coincides with the essence of human beings. Utopias will not die, because they are permanent ad infinitum. To build another world, we must raise awareness of the reality of the world around us. Taking advantage of the time we have left, reflecting on concrete actions and adding our forces, we can change the world.
Last week, the AEK students I have in Azkaine went to visit the streets as the last class. The organizers of the photographic route placed posters or papers along with each of the photographs to illustrate the photographs. Along with the photographs, the views of the creators azaltzeko.Testu appearing on white paper were all written in French. Once again, it seemed to me that the marginalized Basque was a minority. These questions occurred to me in front of the papers. What does it cost to write in Basque? Have you not found anyone to translate those short texts? Didn't you think of other languages because it was so obvious that the subject of language had gone through its head or because it was so obvious that it was done only in French? What response should we give to such cultural activities? Take off the papers? Burning papers? Painting papers to show our disagreement? Rethinking the roles artistically? And what impact will the responses we give them have? The answers will reflect our way of being, our identity and who we are.
Diversity is disappearing from our daily lives and if we do not give the answer in violent actions, the action should be captured in the orality of language, which is the correct action. At the end of the lap, I thought, if we don't go to the roots of what we were, we will become ghosts of our own ghosts. Because if we are not what we were, but what the environment teaches us, who are we? Only a French role?
