Under control and without noise
- -Armchairs. Chronicle of the performance offered on June 17 in the Uni fronton of Markiña–Xemein.
Darkness on the stage and a mysterious wooden box in the middle. The people of the village become a theater to see friends, relatives and acquaintances of the people, in the performance of a long-prepared theater play. In today’s challenge neither red nor blue has been imposed, in today’s performance the gray color has taken the pediment.
They want us and they need us under the control of this Basque people of fiction devised by Gotzon Barandiaran. Wanting to work, I slept the rest of the day, and much better at rest. In silence and without making noise. For this, the president has brought the same chairs as for everyone. The occasions of protest and complaint are scarce, the questions not too separated from the context, and obedience is due to the higher authorities. Citizens do not have the power to decide what they have to buy to eat in this town. It is no bad thing that there are so many obediences that are still non-conformist.
Despite being an amateur group, we have had the opportunity to see her in Markiña Xemein. The actors have grasped improvisation and elegantly covered obstacles and errats. Ander Lipus has been in charge of directing the work of the theater company Abarka. On the stage he also highlighted the director's style, at least I've seen the mayor's character very close to Lipus. I would make a special mention of the chairs, armchairs, seats, armchairs… for dressing the theater in a meaningful and elegant way, helping the thread of the narrative.
The play has reminded me of some of the books and films I had read before. Among them, the 1984 novel by George Orwell. Control, authority and social passivity. At least he has reassured me, because I have heard the birds and I have seen the living chickens in this curious town of Euskal Herria, here we admire or love nature a little more.
The spectators, all seated in the same seats, have had time to reflect whether it is by chance that the only living person that appears in history is the hen?
